A detailed history of the 16th Battalion 1914-1919. The 16th Battalion AIF was recruited in Western and South Australia in September 1914 as part of the 4th Brigade. The 16th served in Egypt, Gallipoli and the Western Front. By war's end, the 16th was one of the most highly decorated units of the AIF, but at great cost, with 1,150 fatalities amongst its ranks.
