In 1916 scientist and explorer, Dr Herbert Basedow, was requested by the Government to examine a remote Kimberley prospect for the strategic tungsten mineral, scheelite.

His journal of the expedition describes in detail the geology. flora, fauna and Aboriginals of the west coast of the Kimberley frontier and the Wyndham area.

The book includes many photographs by Basedow and an introduction by David Kaus of the National Museum Australia, an authority on Basedow. It is an essential reference for all interested in the Kimberley and its exploration.
