The Swan Guildford Historical Society Inc. was formed in 1962 and has become the custodian of a large collection of artefacts, photographs, costumes and textiles, documents, tools and machinery that are representative of the history of Guildford and the Swan Valley. These are housed in the Heritage Precinct, Meadow Street, Guildford, which comprises the Old Colonial Gaol, Taylors cottage and the Courthouse – plus our headquarters Judy Hamersley House (pictured above).
The collection has been assessed the third most important collection in Western Australia surpassed only by the Western Australian Museum and Royal Western Australian Historical Society.
Guided tours of the Museum are available each Tuesday to Saturday, 10am till 2pm. The last tour of the day starts at 1.30pm.
Admission: Adults $5. Children 5-12 $3. Children under 5: Free entry. Payment by cash or EFTPOS available.

Social events include a series of history talks on the 2nd Monday of the month at St Matthew’s Parish Hall, Stirling Square, Meadow Street, Guildford. Time 7 pm for 7:30 pm. After the talk a light supper is served, with time to socialise. All are Welcome.
